Hello! Thanks very much for stopping by. Come on in. Allow me to take your coat, and please leave your shoes by the door. I’ll put the kettle on for tea while you settle in.
Feel free to put on some music or a soundscape to keep you company, and I’ll be right back.

Now, what would you like to know about me? Everything? No, that won’t do. We’ve only got a few hundred words and I’m sure we’re both short on time.
Hold that thought, the kettle’s boiled. Peppermint tea, OK? That’s my favourite. Excellent, one cup coming right up.
So what can I tell you while I’m pouring our tea? Admittedly, I don’t really like to talk about myself, but since you made the journey here, I’ll indulge you.
But first, a sip. Careful, it’s hot! Yes, it is a lovely flavour. Alright, while you’re sipping away, I’ll get straight to it.
Most relevant to your visit, presumably, I’m a fiction writer, currently working on a fantasy novel for children (Middle Grade, in industry terms) called The Cartographer.
Based on an idea I originally had for a film script, when I used to do that sort of thing, this book has held my attention for many years, and I can’t wait for you to read it.
When will it be coming out? As Demetri Martin puts it, that remains “a mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a pita.”
“Why the pita?” he asks. “That counts as another mystery.”
Speaking of food, will you be staying for lunch? No? Ah, yes, I forgot—we’re both in a bit of a hurry.
On with it then! More facts about me. Besides writing fiction, I also spend plenty of time writing in my communications job at a university, where I work with some fantastic humans on everything from strategy and campaigns, websites and email newsletters to social media, photo shoots, murals, and more.
Home, where I live with my wonderful wife, along with our two children—who add more grey to my beard every day, but also plenty of love, joy and pride to my heart—is Vancouver, BC, the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ təməxʷ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples.
All of my creative work, including this website, is lovingly made by me, a real human person who loves a few strong cups of coffee in the morning, peppermint tea (as you might have guessed) in the afternoon and evening, a wee dram of scotch from time to time, and Oxford commas and em dashes (which so-called AI will never take away from me). Plus birdwatching. Turns out I really like birdwatching.
That about covers it. But you’re welcome to stay while you finish your tea. Of course… you must depart. I understand. Best be on your way then! No, no, put those dishes down; I’ll tidy up.
What’s that? Yes, I’d love to stay in touch. Send me an email or feel free to connect with me on social media.
Thanks again for the visit, friend. Take care, and I’ll see you around.
